This zoo of Delhi was designed in 1959 by Major Wineman of Sri Lanka and Carl Hagelbeck of West Germany. Delhi Zoo has 200 varieties of trees which are also used for medicinal importance. According to Professor C.R. Babu of Delhi University, as of 2019, about 1,500 species of plants and animals and 200 species of birds have been found in it.
